Craterian Theater at the Collier Center for the Performing arts

Founded in 1988, the mission of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon (YSSO) organization is to provide exceptional performance experiences under the leadership of professional conductors and music coaches and to foster a lifelong appreciation of classical music and the arts. The 2013-2014 season marks the organization’s 26th year of performing masterworks for orchestra.

Concert Series performances feature the three ensembles of the YSSO organization — Youth Symphony, Youth Orchestra and Youth Strings. The Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestra include accomplished string, brass, woodwind and percussion musicians who present masterful performances of standard orchestral literature and concerti, as well as arrangements for preparatory orchestra. Youth Strings performs arrangements for young string players. Youth Symphony Concerto Competition winners are featured as soloists with the Youth Symphony each year. Audiences will be impressed by the interpretive, technical and performance skills of the musicians, as well as their commitment to excellence.
